April 2nd our speaker was Mary Feit who serves as the GPUMC Director of Lay Servant Ministries (LSM) and is a Certified Lay Speaker herself spoke about Lay Servant Ministries. Mary presented the history of LSM and the restructure following the 2016 General Conference. She explained the three certifications Certified Lay Servant, Certified Lay Speaker and Certified Lay Minister.
Rev. Wayne Alloway opened our morning on April 3rd with a devotion about embracing life with a third-class ticket, like what you could buy on a stagecoach and being part of a team like a fishing boat (“Dangerous Catch”).
Todd Seifert, Director of Communications for the GPUMC, spoke in two sessions about building slides for worship, bulletin do’s and don’ts, maximizing the look of worship space through the use of props, proper video equipment placement and a few other communications pieces for the local church.
Food and monetary donations were also taken during our two days together for the St. Mark’s food bank.
A Great Plains PAUMCS business meeting was also held. Reports were given by the various committees and bylaw amendments were voted on.
Next workshop will be in September in Stiwell, KS.
Thank you Mary Feit, Rev. Wayne Alloway, Todd Seifert and our PAUMCS members who put together and executed an excellent workshop.
